----------------------------------------------------After skipping uni to go to Budapest last year, it was time for part II.
From researching Bucharest beforehand, the reviews seemed mixed, it was 50/50 whether people recommended it or not to bother.
My twopence: I wouldn't bother. I think Romania as a country has some lovely cities, but Bucharest isn't one of them, for lack of better words, it's grey and miserable. Nothing really stood out... not even the palace of parliament which is the heaviest building in the world which Ceausescu destroyed the original city for. The tour consisted of the lady pointing out the ventilation systems in each room... riveting...
HOWEVER, I did also visit Brasov and Peles, these cities and the countryside along the way were beautiful. I'd revisit Romania, just not Bucharest.
Weather was a rollercoaster, it would be warm and sunny only for the next day to be snowy with -8c temps.
Maccies (McDon) in Romania is genuinely one of the best too, the dessert selection is unparalleled. As for Romanian food, the sarmale is nice, and at least everything isn't covered with paprika like in Hungary.
